Hertfordshire wedding magic

I’ve recently performed a number of weddings at a beautiful venue in Hertfordshire called Minstrel Court and it has to be one of my favourite wedding venues to attend for a number of reasons.

Firstly, it is the place that I got married at nearly 5 years ago so it brings back some wonderful memories every time I arrive.

Secondly, Dave (the owner) and his family and staff are so helpful, and they help their clients day go smoothly so that there is no stress for the bride and groom. This allows me to just get on with entertaining people and giving them some wonderful magical memories!

To top off the wonderful wedding I performed at last week, I have now been asked to be their preferred supplier for close up magic! This is a real honour as Minstrel Court don’t typically recommend suppliers so you can be sure I will give your wedding the best magic you can possibly get!

If you are getting married and would like to find a stunning venue, then look no further than Minstrel court. And if you are interested in making your wedding day as memorable as possible then contact me now to find out what I can do for you with some professional close up wedding magic.

60th Birthday Party magic in Suffolk

Last Saturday I was asked to attend a 60th birthday party as a surprise for a lovely lady who loved close up magic. It was being held at their home in Syleham, Suffolk which was the most wonderful house I think I’ve ever seen, and was being held in the gardens with a marquee, BBQ, drinks and a band later on.

There must have been roughly 60-70 guests that turned up, and I’m happy to say that every single one of them got to see my range of close up magic and thoroughly enjoyed themselves! One of my main priorities at an event is to stay until everyone there has been entertained, regardless of the length of time I have been booked for. Unlike other magicians, I DON’T clockwatch!!

Tehina, the fiancee of one of the sons asked me to where her partner, friends and herself were sitting and asked if I could perform for them, to which I obviously agreed instantly. Within seconds of finishing my set, I’m thrilled to say that they booked me for their wedding in only 2 weeks time, which was being held at the parents house again!!

The very next morning I was getting ready to send a thank you email off to the booker as I always do, but got beaten to it by an email from him to myself! Here is the email for you to see.

“Luke, Many thanks for your entertaining at Rosie’s birthday party. Your skill left even the most cynical of her guests amazed and will make the evening definitely one to remember. I was very impressed, thank you again”

I’ll keep you up to date as to how amazing the wedding day goes and even try to bring you a photo of the happy day. I

Minstrel Court Wedding Magic

Being a Professional Wedding Magician, I obviously attend and perform my close up wedding magic at lots of different venues, but was especially excited about performing at this particular wedding on Saturday night.

“Why?” I hear you shout…. (you did shout, didn’t you?)

Well I was booked to perform my close up magic at a lovely wedding venue called Minstrel Court in Wendy, Royston. This is a special venue to me as back in 2010 I got married at the very same venue just after it became available for wedding bookings.

Seeing everything again as it was when we were there, from the outside ‘birdcage’ where the ceremony was held to the extensive marquee that was erected bought back lots of wonderful memories.

The bride and groom were an amazing couple and their guests were equally enjoyable to perform for. I’ve got a couple of more weddings to attend and perform at later on in the year here so I’m sure I’ll be saying the same thing to you all again in a few months time!

Even after the speeches etc overran by over an hour, I stayed on until all of the guests had managed to see some of my magic. This is something that I pride myself in as I would feel awful if after booking me, a bride and groom had to report that half of their guests didn’t get to see anything! Many other magicians will book by the hour and try to cram as many weddings into their day as they can. If you book me, you get to relax knowing that if things run over, you’ll still get what you pay for!!!

Click the contact tab at the top of the page and see how I can make your wedding, party or any type of event for that matter the most memorable event possible.

East Anglia Wedding fayre magic!!!

Yesterday I was invited down to a venue in Chippenham, Cambridgeshire to perform my close up magic at a wedding fayre. The venue was a beautiful place called Chippenham park, where I had the pleasure of amazing over 300 brides and grooms.

Many people who knew I was attending in advance came over to see me in action and enquire into my availability etc. However, what I really found exciting is that those who had never even imagined having a professional wedding magician performing at their special day, were amazed at just how great an idea it is!

I can either perform for their guests during their drinks reception so that they don’t need to worry about anything whilst they are whisked off to have their photos taken. Maybe they would like me to visit their guests whilst they are sat at their tables during the wedding breakfast itself. Or maybe they would like their evening guests to see my close up magic for themselves instead of just hearing about how great everyone else found it. Whatever they wish, I’ll work with them to make it fit perfectly!!

Whichever option they (or YOU) would like, I can help fill a wedding day with amazement, give guests something to talk about and help take the pressure off of the happy couple too.

I’m looking forward to performing much more wedding fayre magic over the course of 2015, so I’ll keep you updated as to where I’ll be 🙂

Bye for now,

Luke

Luke Clough – Member of The Magic Circle

Well I finally decided to take the plunge and apply to join The Magic Circle, the most prestigious magic club in the country, if not the world!

The first step was to have a formal interview where I was asked to demonstrate a few effects to ensure my standard was high enough, as well as talk about my passion for magic to ensure I was a serious magician.

The next step was to have a formal audition. This is held at The Magic Circle Headquarters in London and took place a few weeks ago. The interesting thing about the auditions is that anyone who is already a member and in the venue on the night can sit in on them. Being judged by 3 of the country’s top magicians can be daunting enough, let alone having another 40-50 people watching from behind them too. I’ll be honest I was slightly nervous when I was introduced, but as soon as I started it became one of the best things I’ve done. I thoroughly enjoyed the whole experience and just wished it could have been longer!

After a few weeks I received an email which was one of the proudest moments of life….

“Congratulations, you were successful and you are now a member of The Magic circle”

. WOW! That was all I could think.. just WOW! I can now say that I and my standard of magic has been accepted as being as good as anyone else out there, and that really is something to be so proud of!

So now if you are looking into hiring a professional magician to attend your wedding, party or indeed any event in Cambridge and the surrounding areas, make sure you contact me to find out how your event can have the sparkle of a fully accredited Magic Circle magician!

Money Magic with Cambridge Magician Luke Clough

Firstly, apologies for the lack of posts recently. December 2014 was manic and 2015 has started off pretty busy too! I promise though that I will be making much more of a conscious effort to let you know where I am, what I’m up to and treating you to some awesome magic clips too, such as the money magic clip below 🙂

One thing that I’ve always had a love for is money magic, and over the past few months I’ve noticed that whenever I asked a spectator if I could borrow a £10 or £20 note, they would more often than not say “can you turn it into a £50 note for me?” with a laugh…… so I thought to myself what would it look like if I could?

I got to work trying to fold a note in different orientations, and finally found one that when you folded a £10 note up in a certain way, when you unfolded it it would in fact be a £50 note! Check out the video below and see for yourself…

So go ahead, grad your wallet or purse, find a £10 note and try it for yourself. You’ll be amazed at the result I’m sure 😉

Anyway, thanks for checking in. If you would like to see more vdeos and photos of me in action please click here. Close up Magic in East Anglia Wedding Fayres in 2015

Hi Everyone,

I hope you all had an amazing Christmas and New Year!

December 2014 has been an absolute roller coaster and full of magic, mayhem and madness! I was booked to perform mind blowing close up magic and mentalism everywhere from Cambridge and Downham Market in Norfolk, to some prestigious venues in London too, one of which was owned by Richard Branson!

We’re a little over a week into 2015 yet it is already looking like it’s off to a great start with lots of enquiries coming in from those that have seen me over the Christmas period which is always lovely.

I have also just been confirmed as a primary supplier of wedding magic and close up magic for 2 wedding fayres organisers in the East Anglia area which is a wonderful honour too! As soon as I get the dates for all of the events I’ll be performing at then I’ll put up a list here so that if you’re interested then you can come and see for yourselves how great magic can be for your special event 🙂

Also get ready for a lot more regular blogs and videos of tricks and magic, as well as conmpetitions where you can win the offer of me performing at your event for free!

That’s it from me for now though, so I’ll see you all very soon!

magic from the eyes of a child

I personally love to perform magic because I love the look on my spectators faces when I am working. They experience such a range of emotions and feelings from confusion, excitement, astonished, annoyed…. you name it, they feel it!

Even to this day, knowing what I know and understanding how magic works, I love being fooled! It reminds me of when I was a child and I saw a trick performed for the first time. When i was only very young we all went on a family holiday to Florida, America and I happened to see an advert in the hotel brochure for a magic shop. I begged, badgered and annoyed my parents enough to finally make them give in and take me there. Now the owner of this shop was a fantastically interesting person who in my eyes at that time knew EVERYTHING there was to know about magic. He showed me any trick I asked to see and every one of them blew me away…. it goes without saying that I made my parents buy me some of them before we left, which I still have to this day!

I now have a 1 year old son (it was his birthday last week) Noah, who I love to mess about with and make things vanish in front of his eyes. This week we were in a restaurant (can you call Pizza Hut a restaurant?) and thought I’d have some fun and managed to get his reaction filmed. You can see the video below.

Now, that reaction bought back to me what magic is really about… laughter, fun and amazement. Thank you Noah for reminding me 🙂

Performing a stage illusion, in a close up setting!

Performing an impossible stage illusion, but up close!!

I’ve always wanted to learn how to perform stage illusions. The thought of standing in front of thousands of people and performing illusions that cannot be explained sends a rush right through me, but there’s always been a few problems. In order to be able to perform the effects that I love, it requires owning HUGE pieces of equipment, and to be honest I don’t think my wife would allow me to fill more rooms up with what she describes as ‘magic stuff’!

The one illusion that I have always loved watching is when a magician gets an assistant to lay down inside a box and proceeds to either saw them in half or stick swords through them in a manner that is visually impossible. So this got me thinking……. How could I perform this effect or something similar using only the tools that I carry with me to close up events. Using simply some cards, a card box and something surprising the following video was born 😉

If you have liked what you have seen, please feel free to check out my other videos either on my youtube page or by clicking here. Alternatively if there is a magic trick that you have seen before and would like to challenge me to do, then please feel free to contact me at the bottom of this page or by clicking contact in the top right and I’ll see what I can come up with!

Thank you for watching, and hopefully I’ll get to perform for you all soon!

Catch me performing magic for ACT Saturday 22nd June!

Professional Magician Luke Clough performing at ACT’s first ever summer celebration

I have just been confirmed to perform some close up magic this coming Sunday, 22nd June for ACT at their first ever summer celebration. This is going to be a truly amazing day with lots of stalls, entertainment and so much more going on.

Addenbrookes Charity Trust do a fantastic job to help make a difference for patients by raising extra funds to enhance services, facilities and research at Addenbrooke’s and the Rosie. Making use of the funds raised by ACT allows the hospitals to achieve some things sooner than it would otherwise have done and to invest in projects to a greater degree than NHS funds alone might have allowed. The charity supports the development of new facilities such as the Cambridge Breast Cancer Research Unit and the purchase of state-of-the-art equipment like the Da Vinci Robot for the treatment of prostate cancer, as well as day to day extras for departments across the hospitals where the need is greatest or most urgent. I’m sure you’ll agree this is a wonderful cause.

This Sunday is their first ever ‘Summer Celebration’ and I am proud to be able to assist them with their fundraising and attend their day. I’ll be mixing and mingling with their guests between 4.30pom and 6.00pm. The day itself however starts at 2.30pm and runs throughout the day until 8.00pm, and there will be food, refreshments and many other stalls around for you to enjoy.

Come on down and help support this wonderful cause, and be sure to track me down to see some amazing magic happen in front of your very eyes too. I can guarantee you will have an excellent day out.

I look forward to seeing some of you on Sunday!

Luke
